Post 576 (persht in Very New but Eager {General})

I'd like to develop a leaderboard based off existing members on one site for a specific game. I see the APIs and I just want to clarify - through my basic knowledge. If anything a basic trophy leaderboard would work.

First question (very obvious answer but I just want to know a basic page structure)-
I use a php form to GET info from the API and then create another page to SORT and ECHO the results?
-(this aside from the pages used to get user auth from PSN)

Where should I start reading first? Are there any must read documents that I should be memorizing.

I see there is a sign-on service would I be able to use this like a Facebook single sign-on for my forum?

I know i could hire someone but I always get some sort of high from doing these things on my own. I just need some approval or possibly direction.

I will be donating when i get paid tomorrow :) I'm not here to grab a freebie and run! I appreciate developers and this project(s)!

I apologize if I'm confusing anyone with my questions. I'm still reading through everything on the site.

My knowledge of 'programming' is basic/intermediate for php and Javascript ... MySQL databases etc.
Advanced - HTML/CSS/XML

Things I've done - made simple members section and cms. Some signature generators. I made one of the first myspace friend train scripts lol. Not hard stuff but I wouldn't say I'm 100% noob.

Hey, i'm new and i really want to thank Dose for the sharing ;)

I've just got one question about the get_trophies function : which parameter do you add to get the name of the game?

I've got connectivity with the searchjid site now but it's not giving me anything useful.

I'm posting the following...
"<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?><searchjid platform='ps3' sv='3.70'><online-id>fgsfds100</online-id></searchjid>"

But I'm receiving this from all three sites.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><searchjid result="01"/>

I'm not specifying any of the other CURL details such as content-type, timeout, connect timeout and return transfer. Would those affect the results or am I just missing something in the data I'm posting?

If it helps, these are the server details I'm getting along with the empty xml line.

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Connection: close
Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 13:42:52 GMT
Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
Content-Length: 62
Content-Type: text/xml;charset=UTF-8
Client-Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 13:42:56 GMT
Client-Peer: 198.107.129.148:80
Client-Response-Num: 1

EDIT:
Nevermind, I sorted it out. Initially I was just doing post($url,$postdata); Changed it it post($url,Content=>$postdata); and it worked.

Post 571 (fgsfds100 in Get Trophies (Offical Server) {Project: GetInfos})

Hey, I'm new. I've looked around here several times and I guess now it's time to speak up.

I currently use an existing site as a middleman to gather trophy data but I want to start getting it directly from Sony for a change. It'll probably load a lot faster and I'm sure the middleman would thank me for it when I stop consuming his bandwidth and server CPU time (his site 403s a lot when my programs are active, if he's reading this, sorry about that).

I don't need any friends list data or anything that requires people to log in with their PSNID. The ONLY data I'm interested in is...

user avatar
user region
list of games (user unspecified AND user specified)
-> npcommid (NPWR#####_00_XXXXXXXXXXX...)
-> game logo id (the hex following the above)
-> game title
-> console (ps3 / vita)
-> list of trophies in each game
----> trophy id
----> trophy image (the hex)
----> trophy type (plat,gold,etc)
----> trophy name
----> trophy description
----> earned date (when user specified)

The system I've build can already determine everything else.

My problem is that this is in PHP but I don't have that installed on my server and I don't really feel like adding it. I work in Perl and I'd like to stick to that solely if at all possible.

Anyway, I'm trying to convert the code by DoSe420 in the first post but I just can't wrap my head around it. I found a CURL module for Perl but it's not compatible with my version and I don't feel like upgrading anything. So that's out. I'm left doing this from scratch using a Perl module called LWP but I can't even get past the basic authentication to get a JID. I just keep getting error 401 (unable to log in).

I have the following code which DOES work (code 200) when I try it on a basic-auth area of my own site, but for some reason it doesn't work at all when I try it on the PS site. I should at least be able to log in successfully, even if it doesn't know what to send back to me... right?

# ---------------------------------------------------------------- #
#!C:/Perl/bin/perl.exe
use LWP;

#$site[0] = "http://127.0.0.1/private/"; # this was to test
#$user = "admin"; # logging in on my site
#$pass = "pass";                         # -- it worked --

$site[0] = "http://searchjid.usa.np.community.playstation.net/basic_view/func/search_jid";
$site[1] = "http://searchjid.eu.np.community.playstation.net/basic_view/func/search_jid";
$site[2] = "http://searchjid.jpn.np.community.playstation.net/basic_view/func/search_jid";
$user = "c7y-basic01";
$pass = "A9QTbosh0W0D^{7467l-n_>2Y%JG^v>o";

for ($i=0; $i<@site; $i++)
{
$browser = LWP::UserAgent -> new;
$browser -> agent("PS3Community-agent/1.0.0 libhttp/1.0.0");
$req = HTTP::Request -> new(GET => $site[$i]);
$req -> authorization_basic($user,$pass);
print $browser -> request($req) -> as_string . "\n\n";
}
# ---------------------------------------------------------------- #

So my first questions are...

1. Is this still the basic login? ----> c7y-basic01:A9QTbosh0W0D^{7467l-n_>2Y%JG^v>o

2. Should that be treated as a single string or is it a username + password combined.

3. If it is a username + password combined, where is the separator? Is it the colon?
Is this what they would be if they were separated?
user: c7y-basic01
pass: A9QTbosh0W0D^{7467l-n_>2Y%JG^v>o

4. Is the trophy login still the same too? ----> c7y-trophy01:jhlWmT0|:0!nC:b:#x/uihx'Y74b5Ycx
And is it separated like this (or at all)?
user: c7y-trophy01
pass: jhlWmT0|:0!nC:b:#x/uihx'Y74b5Ycx

5. Does anyone have any advice for doing this in Perl?
How do you do http posts WITH basic authentication and all that other stuff...

Any help would be appreciated. Even just explaining the overall process that needs to take place so I can try to figure it out for myself.

If you want just the status of the trophy server,

http://static-resource.np.community.playstation.net/np/resource/trophy/trophy-status.xml

I don't know if there is a similar XML for other PSN environments, haven't looked...
